Federal Conservatives are demanding an investigation into the WE Charity controversy.
MP Michael Barrett believes the police should look into why the Trudeau government sole-sourced a nearly $1 billion student grant contract to the organization.
“But it’s very clear there is sufficient grounds for this matter to be investigated by the police,” says Barrett.
The demand follows a revelation that Trudeau’s family members were paid $300,000 by the charity for speaking engagements.
Barrett wants to find out “Which cabinet ministers were aware that the family had been paid, we need to find when they knew that and we need to find out if they participated in the cabinet discussion relating to this.”
