The Northwestern Health Unit has received reports of an algae bloom at Pickle Lake’s beach.
With that, the beach has been closed as the Ministry of Environment will be conducting tests.
The results are not yet known and the health unit urges residents to be cautious and treat it as if it is blue-green algae.
The health unit says some blue-green algae produce toxins and can pose a health risk to people and animals when they are exposed to them in large amounts.
With the water in the region warming there is an increased risk of blue green algae blooms.
