Bryan Pinkerton
July 13 1947 – July 8 2020
On Wednesday, July 8, 2020, Bryan Pinkerton quietly passed away, just five days shy of his 73rd birthday and surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Dorothy, daughter Christy and her husband Don, son Joel, grandchildren Jenna “Jae” and Eric, sister Karen Shoguchi and her husband Barry, and brother Bob and his wife Marj.
Bryan’s career took him all over the world, inspecting pipelines, and he had many stories to tell about his adventures. He was well known and respected in the oil and gas industry. Many times he fought his way back from illnesses and injuries that would have killed a lesser man, but he couldn’t win the final battle.
Dorothy was able to join him on several of his work travels and, after Bryan’s retirement, they continued to travel the world on cruises and vacations, making lasting friendships along the way. Bryan always had something good to say about everyone and, when he met you, you became a friend. He was known for his quick wit and sense of humour and was the guy you wanted on your trivia team.
Through several moves over the years, the cabin on Big Vermilion Lake was always home. In recent years, winters were spent in Calgary near the family.
On Sunday afternoon, July 12, starting at 1 p.m., Bryan’s life will be celebrated at the cabin and all who wish to attend are welcome, keeping in mind the current pandemic requirements of masks and distancing. If anyone should wish to make a memorial donation, the family would like those to go to the Meno Ya Win Health Centre in Sioux Lookout, through the Sioux Lookout Funeral Home, 198 Front Street, Sioux Lookout, Ontario P8T 1B9
The family is extremely grateful for the excellent care that Bryan received there during his final week, and for the very kind compassion shown to the family.
