Patty Hajdu wants you to be careful even as COVID-19 cases in Canada continue to decline.
The federal Health Minister says the work to reduce its spread has been paying off, but that progress can be undone.
Ontario saw an outbreak of more than 30 cases linked to nail salons in the city of Kingston recently.
“Any kind of outbreak can drive those numbers up, so we have to be really careful that we’re not allowing COVID-19 to sort of grow and fester, if you will, in the cracks,” Hajdu says.
Hajdu says to prevent any new outbreaks, you should think about the risks of any activities you consider doing.
“If you walk into a business and there is close, crowded quarters, and there’s not physical distancing capacity, and you’re going to be there for a while, you might want to reconsider getting your nails done that day,” she points out.
The Health Minister says the government also plans to keep the Canada-U.S. border closed to prevent travellers from spreading the virus.
