The towing industry in Ontario is coming under the watchful eye of the Ford government.
Transportation Minister Caroline Mulroney explains a task force has been formed to strengthen provincial oversight of tow truck operators.
“Our government is deeply concerned with the continued incidents of violence and criminal activity in the towing industry. These incidents are completely unacceptable and pose a threat to the safety of operators and everyone who uses our highways,” notes Mulroney.
The transport minister suggests the task force will be able to help responsible tow truck drivers who are affected by those who do not follow the rules.
Mulroney says the task force will also be teaming up with the insurance industry to find ways of cracking down on insurance fraud.
