Dryden Police are looking at the ways COVID-19 has changed the frequency of certain calls compared to others.
The Police Service reported 607 calls for service in May, down from 701 in May 2019.
Chief Doug Palson says theft and mischief reports are on the decline.
He adds parking infractions are down as there has been less downtown activity.
Palson points out they have seen an increase in other areas.
“Domestic incidents and threats up a bit and that’s to be expected. It’s all relative and for some of my colleagues in larger services it’s a lot larger number spike because of people cooped up at home.”
Palson adds intoxication incidents are also on the rise.
“That’s starting to pick-up, the intox. We have people in here pretty much every night now, unfortunately.”
Palson is anticipating the numbers to be even higher in the June report.
