The province has extended its emergency orders until July 10th.
That includes limits on social gatherings.
“These emergency orders will allow us to take action, if necessary, to ensure our continued success as we reopen our province and get more people back to work,” says Premier Doug Ford.
It also allows frontline health care providers and public health units to assign staff to where they are needed most. First responders can also continue to access personal health details of anyone who tests positive for COVID-19.
However, the province is lifting some restrictions on indoor sports and fitness facilities as long as other health regulations are followed.
The order was set to expire on June 30th. The province also recently extended its State of Emergency until July 15th, allowing the province to continue to make or update emergency orders.
Meanwhile, Ontario has tested a record number of people for the coronavirus.
The latest count is just under 33,500.
As of this morning’s update, there are 160 new cases across the province and another eight people’s deaths have been linked to COVID-19.
