The Red Lake Margaret Cochenour Memorial Hospital has introduced a “Safe Room.”
Patients experiencing mental health and addictions issues will have access to the room when they go the Emergency Department.
Staff renovated an existing patient room with funding support from Ontario Health North.
Officials say this is a step forward in delivering quality care to patients that may be experiencing a mental health or addictions crisis.
They say the space prioritizes patient safety, while allowing for more private assessment and intervention.
