It’s a big day for Dryden’s Ragged Road.
Lead Singer Peter Keen was a guest on the CKDR Morning Show Friday to announce the band is releasing their eighth single today.
“This is the song that named the band. It’s a song called ‘Storms Will Rise’. We got it recorded despite COVID-19. We got it completed. It’s coming out on all your services today. It will be on our website. It will be on Spotify. It will be on Apple Music.”
Keen says the band was originally known as “Second Hand Shoes” but members realized they couldn’t see the name working on a T-shirt.
He notes their lead guitarist’s daughter read the line “the road is ragged”, in the lyrics for “Storms Will Rise” and said that’s the name.
The band became Ragged Road that day.
COVID-19 has slowed things for the musicians but they are still forging ahead.
Keen says they will be doing two online shows this summer.
“Thunder Bay’s ‘Live on the Waterfront’ has recruited us to put together a streaming performance for them. And Dryden actually has asked us to come in and do a Canada Day show. So we are doing a live streaming show on Canada Day. It will be 2 hours.”
Keen says they had a number of live shows booked, were getting some regional play and starting to reach the next level before the pandemic hit.
