A new travel option for area residents who love to fly.
Flair Airlines has announced its launching service out of Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport starting on July 16th.
Vice President of Customer Experience and Airports John Mullins says one of their destination cities will be Toronto.
“2,200-kilometres. It’s a 25 hour drive. It’s a tough drive. So with that being a 2-hour, 20-minute flight, that really does save a lot of your day.”
Mullins talks about one of the benefits of flying Flair.
“Our base prices right now for a Toronto-Winnipeg, Winnipeg-Toronto return is literally $250 cheaper per person.”
Mullins notes “Family of four, that’s $1,000 in savings. Apply that to hotels, part of your vacation, or rental cars. It’s the same sky that we are all flying in. It’s the same 2-hour and 20-minute flight time. We get you there exactly like the other carriers flying in and out of Winnipeg right now.”
He states Flair is also a leader in health and safety and they use ground breaking standards and products to keep their planes clean.
Mullins says no matter where they stop, passengers are removed from the plane, and crews come in to quickly and efficiently clean the cabin.
He believes the added competition in Winnipeg will help out consumers and travelers, noting there’s been an up-tick in passenger loads over the past couple of weeks.
The independent low-fare carrier is also certified to carry cargo, stressing the Winnipeg Airport is bustling with cargo activity.
There’s also direct service to Calgary with additional routes to Edmonton, Vancouver and Kelowna.
Mullins adds it all comes down to supply and demand but he would like to see an expansion of service out of Winnipeg down the road.
