A chance to get out and enjoy the Wabigoon Chain of Lakes and take part in a fun and contact free fishing tournament.
The 2020 COVID Classic is Saturday, June 20th and registration in only $50.
70 boats are being accepted and it’s a 100% cash payout event.
Co-organizer Travis Stromness was a guest on the CKDR Morning Show Friday and says it’s a video catch and release event.
“The resource impact is slim to none. There are no weigh-in’s or social gatherings after the event to coincide with the emergency orders that we’ve recently experienced.”
Stromness says “We’ve also limited each boat to household members only. So it gives families the opportunity to fish and compete together which is pretty awesome. Any video verifications for the leaderboard can be done from a safe distance or by email.”
Teams will keep tabs on the total length of their fish and the highest total among their top five will be declared the winner.
Stromness stresses the tournament has been well received.
“I want to thank the community of Dryden for the out-pouring of support. We’ve had an incredible amount of local and regional businesses with prize donations for this event, which we did not expect.”
Some of the prizes include a weekend fishing trip at Lac Seul Wilderness Resort as well as Indian Point Lodge.
