Wabaseemoong Independent Nations continues to take action to help keep the spread of COVID-19 under control.
A member of the community tested positive last week but it’s believed the individual contracted the virus while visiting Thunder Bay.
Chief Waylon Scott says they are working with Indigenous Services Canada to increase nursing services over the next 2 weeks.
A blue med tent will be installed later this week and testing teams have been in White Dog First Nation to ramp up testing since the positive result.
Scott is encouraging everyone in the community to get tested.
Security procedures have been put in place in the First Nation to make sure social distancing and self-isolation requirements are being followed.
Scott says they have been working around the clock to ensure their members feel safe.
“We will continue to work with Public Health officials on any protocols going forward. We are doing everything we can to address this head on and take all the proper precautions.”
Scott notes they are also working side-by-side with the Kenora Chiefs Advisory and WNHAC on multiple protection measures.
