There was no Education Minister or Premier at today’s media briefing at Queen’s Park and that’s because of a COVID-19 scare involving Stephen Lecce.
Instead, Minister of Training, College and Universities Ross Romano spoke saying he just learned about Lecce coming into contact with someone who tested positive for coronavirus.
“Our Premier is acting out of an extreme abundance of caution, and he wants to ensure that everyone on the premises here at Queen’s Park is safe. This is simply a measure that is being taken out of an abundance of caution,” Romano said.
Health Minister Christine Elliott was also missing from today’s briefing. All three have routinely spoken together at media events and have had regular contact with each other throughout the pandemic.
Romano couldn’t confirm when the three were being tested but said he has confidence in the Premier and his actions today after learning of the news.
