A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for Dryden, Vermilion Bay, Ignace and English River.
Environment Canada says conditions are right for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing damaging wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.
Thunderstorms moving through the region this evening may produce torrential downpours local rainfall amounts of 50 mm in an hour or less.
There is also potential for locally higher rainfall amounts tonight of 50 to 100 mm over areas that get two or more thunderstorms in a row.
Wind gusts to 90 km/h are also possible this evening.
