Although it was held virtually this year, the regional IG Wealth Management Walk For Alzheimer’s has been deemed a success.
Executive Director of the Alzheimer Society of Kenora/Rainy River Rossana Tomashowski says they currently have raised $6,1000.
Tomashowski says this surpasses their goal of $5,000.
The event was held on Sunday and hundreds of participants posted pictures and shared their memories of what’s important to them and what they are walking for.
Tomashowski says “Even though we were not physically together we are connected with family, friends and community partners to help raise awareness and to reduce the stigma of Alzheimer disease and other dementia. We are here to continue to support our care partners and to those living with dementia at this unprecedented times.”
Money raised stays in the region and supports local programs and services, and will help enable research into the causes of and the cure for the disease.
The largest donor collection came from Blayne Orr.
