The latest case of COVID-19 reported in the Red Lake is a worker at an area mine.
However the Northwestern Health Unit currently doesn’t think the virus was obtained from the workplace.
Acting Medical Officer of Health Dr. Ian Gemmill says so far they haven’t seen any signs of worry for workers as the individual has not been in the occupational setting for many weeks and there is no immediate worry of transmission.
Gemmill also says they aren’t specifying which mine the case is from since they don’t want to cause panic where there shouldn’t be any.
He also says the investigation in this case is ongoing and they are ensuring anyone who could have potentially been a contact will be notified.
