The Dryden GM Ice Dogs are on stable ground and are ready to go if junior hockey proceeds in September.
President Mike Sveinson says they have had to make some adjustments and cut some expenses due to a shortened season and a loss of revenue due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We just have to rely on the community to support the team like it always does. It’s no different than any other year, the presence of the Ice Dogs in our community is the direct result of how much the community wants the Ice Dogs here.”
Sveinson adds “We can’t just make the team appear every year by ourselves without the wide support of the community be it through corporate sponsorship, fundraisers or ticket sales.”
Sveinson says right now they are treating every day as business as usual and are awaiting further direction from Hockey Canada.
“I’m confident. I wouldn’t be hanging around trying to work through this situation if I didn’t think there was a future for the team and I ensure you there is!”
