The forest fire hazard is now high to extreme across the Northwest region and there is no relief in site.
The forecast is calling for warm weather and gusty winds for the next couple of days.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is urging caution with campfires and avoid outdoor burning if possible.
There were three new fires reported by mid-day Monday:
-Red Lake 1 is located at Pikangikum First Nation. The 0.2 hectare fire is under control.
-Thunder Bay 11 was located near One Island Lake in the evening hours of May 17, approximately 30 kilometres northwest of Thunder Bay. The 0.3 hectare fire has been declared out.
-Kenora 12 is located approximately 2.5 kilometres east of the community of Redditt on a rail corridor. The 0.4 hectare fire has been declared out.
There are two active fires currently burning but both pose no threat.
Thunder Bay Four, located just north of the 11/17 junction, is sitting at 110 hectares in size.
