There are growing concerns that traffic between the United States and Canada is bound to increase as states and provinces re-open.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says the federal government is keeping a close eye on the situation and will take the necessary measures to limit the spread of COVID-19.
Trudeau says for now they will be continuing with restrictions on International travel.
However, the ban on non-essential travel is set to expire Thursday, May 21st.
Trudeau says “We are looking at stronger measures to make sure that we are following up appropriately on people coming over. We need to make sure that the measures that we are bringing forward are going to keep Canadians safe.”
Right now you must self-isolate for two weeks if you are coming into Canada.
Trudeau admits it is likely that we will see more people trying to cross the border as restrictions start to ease in the United States and Canada.
He says the government is going to be “very, very careful” about reopening any kind of international travel
There have been multiple sightings of American plates as of late in the Dryden area.
