As National Nursing Week continues across the country, CKDR News continues to recognize some of the local nurses you may know.
Angie Barr has been a registered nurse for 23 years and she works in the Emergency Department of the Dryden Regional Health Centre.
“I love crisis and I love good outcomes. Sometimes the sicker my patient is then the more I can do to help them back to health and to get back on their feet and support them in that time. It’s kind of what I live for.”
Barr says her inspiration to become a nurse comes from her family.
“My aunt on my dad’s side of the family. She was in nursing when I was young and I spent a lot of time with her when she was going to school and early in her career. She’s just been a hero of mine and there was really no other option for me when the time came.”
Barr says if anyone is interested in becoming a nurse, they should go for it as it is one of the most rewarding career choices you could make.
