We are one week away from the Victoria Day holiday but it won’t be a normal long weekend in Sunset Country.
Mass groupings aren’t allowed at area camps but according to Premier Doug Ford that doesn’t mean you can’t make a trip out there.
“My message to the people. If you do have to the cottage to check on things, bring your own supplies and just follow the rules. That’s what it comes down to. Follow the same rules as we have everywhere else in the province. Respect the rules.”
That includes physical distancing and no gatherings of 5 people or more.
Ford adds “I am asking you. Please don’t bring a whole whack of people up. It’s not the party weekend that’s been in the past.”
He stresses “This is about working together. We have come so far as a team. Team Ontario and working together and everyone collaborating and doing the right thing.”
Ford states we need to follow physical distancing and non-essential travel guidelines to keep our communities safe from COVID-19.
Ford notes there will be plenty of other long weekends to come where we can gather with family and friends.
Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Theresa Tam says there are a host of public health reasons why people should remain at their primary residence in the coming weeks and months instead of venturing to areas with less capacity to handle coronavirus cases.
