Nishnawbe Aski Police are reporting a life-threatening incident that led to gunfire by a police officer in Fort Severn First Nation.
Police say on Thursday a man became involved in a life-threatening altercation with a NAPS Officer.
Police say the officer responded by firing his gun and the man was injured and fled the scene.
NAPS Officers say they were able to locate the man with help from the Ontario Provincial Police Emergency Response Teams and the man was taken into custody and transported to the nursing station.
Police say the man has been transported out of Fort Severn First Nation with serious but stable injuries.
An investigation into the matter has begun with assistance from the Ontario Provincial Police.
Fort Severn is located around 715 kilometres northeast of Red Lake.
