There is still time to take part in National Organ and Tissue Awareness Donation Month.
The Trillium Gift of Life Network is putting out the call to local residents to register to become a donor.
President and Chief Executive Officer Ronnie Gavsie says registering today can help a number of people.
“One organ donor can save the lives of eight people and a tissue donor can save many, many more.”
Despite government offices being closed due to COVID-19, Gavsie says it takes two minutes to register at http://www.beadonor.ca
Gavsie notes northwestern Ontario is above the curve in donations, stating the Dryden area is above the provincial average with a 47% registration rate.
She says their goal is to have the provincial average at a registration rate of 50%.
