Ontario’s Agriculture Minister is promising we won’t run short of food during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ernie Hardeman says every effort is being made to keep our store shelves stocked.
“We have a very robust food chain. We have had times when there’s a hiccup. A truck doesn’t arrive to deliver something when they should or someone goes out and buys a lot more, unforeseen, of a certain product. Generally, we have a very robust system.”
Hardeman says food security is paramount during the crisis and that’s why the provincial government has taken measures to ensure we have enough food, particularly during planting and harvest seasons.
He notes he’s in regular contact every day with producers and processors.
