Kasper Transportation is suspending all operations starting on May 2nd.
The bus service provider in northwestern Ontario and western Manitoba says a decrease in revenue caused by the COVID-19 pandemic makes it financially irresponsible to continue operations at this time.
Chief Executive Officer Kasper Wabinski says the suspension of service will impact a significant portion of the population that doesn’t have access to private vehicle transportation and must travel for essential medical appointments and employment.
He notes the Kasper freight service transports medical samples, municipal water testing samples, drug prescriptions, and freight for mines and hydro development projects.
No plans for the resumption of bus service have been unveiled.
