The Premier is providing more context to a report from an Ottawa radio station that quoted him as saying the Ontario economy could be reopened by the May long weekend.
Doug Ford clarified to media that he meant only a small trickle of our economy could come back online and only if the Medical Officer of Health said it was safe to do so.
“I always put the condition on based on the Chief Medical Officer of Health, if we see the curve go down and keep in mind we are talking a month down the road. I don’t have a crystal ball and neither does anyone else. If we keep seeing the curve flatten, yeah we can start opening up a little at a time,” Ford stressed.
The Premier says no one can predict what the COVID-19 conditions will be like in a month’s time.
“I got to be very, very, clear there is never going to be just one day that we are going to open up the economy. We are going to open it up with a trickle, but by no means, for instance, are we going to say the May 2-4 weekend, we are just going to open things up, that is not going to happen,” Ford added.
