Ontario is providing additional COVID-19 relief to support some of the most vulnerable in our province.
Premier Doug Ford says they are partnering with the Ontario Community Support Association to enhance a critical service.
Ford says they are investing $11 million to expand existing Meals on Wheels programs as well as other community organizations.
He notes that will help deliver meals, medicines and other essentials to seniors and those with disabilities.
Ford says the government has also doubled Guaranteed Annual Income payments effective this week.
“We have doubled those payments for 194,000 low income seniors across the province. This means up to an extra $166 per month in the pockets of our low income seniors and up to $332 per month/per couple.”
Ford adds they are supporting developmental services, child welfare, victims shelters and organizations delivering social services to First Nations families and individuals.
“We are providing $40 million to help these community organizations with COVID-19 related costs. Such as purchasing masks and gloves. To protect those in their care and our frontline heroes.”
