Confederation College is providing badly needed equipment to assist health care workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The school has donated thousands of pieces of personal protective equipment to the Northern Supply Chain, to help some 36 hospitals and 37 child welfare agencies across the region.
The contribution included over 25,000 pairs of gloves, roughly 2,700 face masks and shields and an assortment of medical gowns, goggles, hand sanitizer and sterilizing wipes.
President Kathleen Lynch says with in-class learning on hold, they are able to free up the essential gear.
“We offer a lot of health care programs. So we have a lot of protective equipment that’s going to be used very well in these times where the health care area is expecting shortages and has been experiencing shortages.”
Lynch says it’s critical that they continue to support their satellite communities during this time.
“It’s important that they see that we value their relationship with us and their support for us and our programs and our students. We want to show them that we care about how they are doing. They give placement opportunities to our students and they are always encouraging us and wanting us to continue to do what we do.”
Confederation College was able to loan some equipment to the Dryden Regional Health Centre including a badly needed patient lift.
