The Mayor of Ear Falls says his community has rallied together to help stop the spread of COVID-19.
There are no confirmed cases in the Ear Falls area.
Kevin Kahoot provided a municipal update on the CKDR Morning Show today. (Tuesday)
“All municipal facilities have been closed to the public and all community events have been cancelled into May. Our daycare staff have been laid-off and the office employees have had their hours reduced so that we can maintain good physical distancing practices.”
Kahoot says municipal office staff will only be in two days a week on a rotating basis but all phone messages will be checked and returned.
He notes members of council, staff and municipal employees have been asked to not leave town unless required to for medical purposes.
“If they do. Self-isolating for the mandatory 14 days will take place. This is critical to ensure the safety of our frontline staff.”
Kahoot notes their Waste Disposal site will continue to operate regular hours and their Public Works crew has separated into two groups to prevent any cross-contamination should someone be infected.
He adds the Fire Department has procedures in place to limit the number of responders answering a call, stressing all equipment, gear and trucks will be sanitized after each and every call.
Kahoot is thanking the community for their efforts to prevent COVID-19.
There are no reported cases in Ear Falls.
