An Ontario watchdog says it’s still addressing complaints during the COVID-19 crisis.
Ontario Ombudsman Paul Dub says while their work is taking longer with many people working remotely, they have received hundreds of complaints during the province’s state of emergency.
His office has helped Ontarians find or navigate information about local and provincial services affected by coronavirus and the state of emergency.
Dub says his office has taken steps like setting up new temporary phone lines to let inmates contact them, and made inquiries about the new emergency rules for open municipal meetings.
It also pushed the province to make sure its public health information is available in both French and English.
He says they will be able to inform the government about the impact of its response to the pandemic, and help it improve.
