Red Lake has extended the closure of municipal facilities until May 4th at the earliest.
Officials stress they remain diligent in the fight against COVID-19 and the safety and well-being of residents is their top priority.
Impacted facilities include:
-Cochenour Arena/Hall
-Heritage Centre Gift Shop (Cheeky Beaver) located at 13 Fifth Street, Balmertown.
-Red Lake Recreation Centre and Fitness Facility.
-Public Works Garage and Office
-Municipal Office located at 2 Fifth Street, Balmertown
-Balmertown and Red Lake Libraries
-Market Pavilion
-All public and privately owned outdoor recreation facilities (playgrounds, parks, baseball diamonds, soccer fields, basketball courts, skatepark, community gardens, picnic areas, park shelters, beaches, outdoor exercise equipment and all other outdoor recreation amenities)
Early Learning and EarlyON operations will remain closed through April 13th.
The Transfer Station will remain open but only debit and credit transactions will be accepted.
There will be a limit of three vehicles entering the site at one time.
The Public Works Department will continue to operate as normal, however the garage and office will remain closed to the public.
In-home services won’t be offered unless it’s an emergency.
The Municipality of Red Lake is providing some relief for local ratepayers.
Council has granted a four week extension on all Fitness Centre memberships as the gym remains closed due to the coronavirus.
The Municipality will forgive interest and penalties on late payments on property taxes for 60-days on the March 31st and May 31st instalments.
Red Lake is also forgiving interest and penalties for 60-days on Water and Sewer Invoices in April and due May 31st.
Mayor Fred Mota says “We will do anything within our power to help our residents and keep them safe during these very challenging times. I remind our residents to continue to follow all public health guidelines. Everything you do today will help us tomorrow. Your continued efforts have not gone unnoticed in ensuring the safety of our community.”
