The COVID-19 crisis is not only affecting businesses, but churches as well, as donations fall off because people can’t attend services.
Bishop Frederick Colli of the Roman Catholic Diocese for northwestern Ontario is hoping, if you can still afford to, donate what you can so the church can pay its bills.
“We understand it’s a difficult time for everyone and my pastors, my parish priests are looking at that, and even as the Bishop, I’m looking at how I can support parishes during this time of financial crisis.”
Colli says donations can be mailed or dropped off and left in secure mailboxes at churches across the region.
From a faith perspective, Colli stresses there are ways to keep the faith during the pandemic.
He suggests reading the scriptures and gospel passages of the day at home.
Colli adds you can turn to the Internet to find televised masses.
The Lutheran Church in Dryden is also turning to technology to help provide healing and faith during this difficult time.
