As our weekend begins, Environment Canada says we can expect poor winter driving conditions this afternoon into tonight.
As a cold front slowly moving through Northwestern Ontario this afternoon, a period of snow is expected.
Total snowfall amounts by midnight tonight will range from about 2 cm near the Minnesota border to the 4 to 8 centimetre range near and north of the Trans Canada Highway 17.
Brief freezing rain is possible in areas during the changeover from rain to snow such as at Dryden, Sioux Lookout and Ignace.
Poor winter driving conditions are expected. Untreated highways may be snow covered and slippery. Motorists should allow extra time to reach their destination.
The snow is expected to taper off completely tonight as the cold front moves away to the east.
