The Premier is thanking the frontline workers in Ontario who are busy stocking shelves, checking customers out and keeping the lights on in Ontario supermarkets.
His comments come after a grocery store worker in southern Ontario passed away after being admitted to the hospital for treatment of COVID-19.
“Talk about unsung heroes, we need to thank every time we go through that line, they are the ones coming day after day ensuring we have food on our tables,” Ford said.
Ford told media on Friday, stores are doing their best to protect their employees by place shields up around their employers and providing them with gloves and other safety items.
Earlier in the week, Medical Officer of Health Dr. David Williams encouraged shoppers to maintain distance between other shoppers and those who are working behind the till.
Williams also asked for shoppers to throw away their single-use gloves so the gloves wouldn’t linger on store floors and parking lots.
