A new federal government program for anyone who loses their job as a result of COVID-19 will be up and running next month.
Maryam Monsef is the Minister of Rural Affairs and she says the Canadian Employment Resource Benefit will be available at the beginning of April.
“You are eligible for $2,000 a month for the next four months. It’s meant to get money quickly into the pockets of Canadians who need the money for rent, for groceries and it’s part of our first response to COVID.”
Monsef notes the Prime Minister has brought together 1,300 extra workers to ensure people get the money ten days after applying for it.
She says application information will soon be available on the Government of Canada website at http://www.canada.ca
