Today (Wednesday) was supposed to be the provincial government’s budget day, but instead, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Finance Minister Rod Phillips will just give an economic update.
Phillips says the statement will relay this year’s funding plans to municipalities, hospitals and the education system.
He states the financial update will include the most up to date and accurate information surrounding the coronavirus.
Phillips says “What we won’t be doing is providing any multi-year projections because that would be impossible to do so at this time. But we will do that when the dust is cleared and we have a better sense of things.”
Phillips notes he’s committed to having a full budget by the middle of November.
The economic update is expected around 3:00pm central.
