The Ford government is going to open select child care centres in the province to help emergency responders.
Education Minister Stephen Lecce says it will help free up those health care workers and other essential employees with their child care needs during the COVID-19 crisis. They will be located near hospitals and other health care facilities.
He indicates the decision is “Based on the advice of Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health.”
The centres are expected to be opened by the end of this week.
The provincial government’s state of emergency announcement last week forced the closure of all daycares in Ontario.
