The Mayor of Ear Falls stresses the current COVID-19 pandemic is showing how caring his community is.
Kevin Kahoot says local businesses are doing their part by taking extra precautions and remaining vigilant to keep their employees and customers safe by increasing sanitation procedures and closing restaurants.
Kahoot stresses they have restaurants and grocery stores who have stepped up and are delivering goods to those who can’t leave their home or are reluctant to do so.
Kahoot says spirits remain high.
“A little worried when we started closing facilities. When you see minor hockey going down and you’re having to shutdown hockey tournaments and the Winter Carnival. But, the mood in the community is really one of understanding and one of well-being. I think they really want to make sure that the residents of the community are all taken care of.”
All municipal facilities are closed and recreation programming has been put on hold.
His message moving forward “We can’t have any panic in the community or even in our country. We’ve got a very good health team nationally, provincially and even at the local level. Really staying ahead of everything. It’s a matter of being educated, being aware of what’s going on.”
Kahoot ends by saying “Be kind and helpful to each other. Be prepared for challenges and willing to compromise to maintain safety. Ear Falls is at its best when we all work together, and by following the recommended social distancing practices, we can maintain a safe and healthy community.”
