The Dryden Police Service is taking action to combat the risk of COVID-19.
The public is being asked to avoid the detachment for non-emergency services including criminal background checks, records requests and general information.
Screening measures are also being implemented and a series of questions will be asked to individuals seeking public assistance for non-urgent situations.
The move is a precautionary measure as there are no known cases of the Coronavirus in Dryden.
Provincial Police detachments in northwestern Ontario are restricting access to help reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19.
Facilities will remain open during regular operating hours, with enhanced screening in place.
OPP are limiting the processing of routine criminal record and vulnerable sector checks.
They will only be conducted if it’s deemed necessary or if its an emergency.
Police stress public and staff safety has always been their number one priority.
Dryden Police and Provincial Police add services levels won’t be impacted with the restrictions.
Emergency responders are asking the community that if you call 911 for police or fire assistance, please let the dispatcher know if you are experiencing any flu-like symptoms.
