The province’s Chief Medical Officer of Health and the Associate Chief Medical Officer of Health are updating the public on the ongoing crisis of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In the latest remarks, Dr. Barbara Yaffe says Ontario has a total of 186 positive cases of confirmed COVID-19 and around 92% of those cases are related to travel or by being in close contact with someone with the illness.
Around 29% of those ill travellers spent time in the United States, with most visiting New York, Colorado, California, Florida, Nevada and Massachusetts.
Yaffe notes over 9,000 cases have come back negative and there are still many cases under review.
Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. David Williams says we need to be proactive and practice good hygiene and social distancing over the next two to four weeks.
