Premier Doug Ford is asking the Federal government to ramp up controls at the Canada-U.S. border.
Ford has made a plea for the Prime Minister to close the border to all visitors, including American visitors.
Ford states “I would be OK with closing the borders to visitors, not to trade and commerce. We are doing a billion dollars a day in two way trade. We have to keep the supply chain moving. But that’s a call for the Federal government to make, not the province, but we would support that.”
He adds “We are taking every step possible to slow the spread of this virus (COVID-19) and we need our partners to do the same. I am very concerned about reports we have been hearing at the border. We need the Federal government to tighten up the border.”
