Canada’s leaders say they’re working together to address the impact of the coronavirus.
The Prime Minister and Premiers held a teleconference yesterday, and in a statement they say they are planning for all scenarios.
That includes possibly providing financial supports for people in self-isolation like sickness benefits.
They also acknowledged the importance of supporting First Nations, Inuit, and Mtis Peoples, and rural and remote communities.
Ontario Premier Doug Ford says they also discussed the federal government’s $1-billion COVID-19 Response Fund, half of which is going to the provinces and territories.
However, Ford says he and other premiers are pushing the feds to reassure businesses and families in the face of “economic uncertainty.” He is asking the Trudeau government to provide “fiscal stimulus” to keep the economy stable, and address supply chain issues as some stores run out of supplies.
