The Superior International Junior Hockey League continues to try and navigate through uncharted waters.
The future of league play for this season remains unclear due to the Coronavirus.
The Canadian Junior Hockey League announced Thursday the suspension of all games until further notice.
Dryden GM Ice Dogs Mike Sveinson provides an update.
“Hoping that I can give some clarity in the next coming days. We will be meeting again as a Board of Governors with the SIJHL early next week and I’m in constant contact with members of the Ice Dogs board to try and figure out what’s next.”
Sveinson says everyone wants to get back on the ice but stresses the health and safety of their players, fans and staff comes first.
He notes no one in the hockey community is really prepared for what is happening but stresses it’s the nature of the team and the community to move forward and they will.
Sveinson says the season is not cancelled and they are hoping for a speedy resolution.
As far as the team, Sveinson says Coach Kurt Walsten met with players this morning (Friday) to provide an update and ensure everyone is on the same page.
He says they can’t practice or hold team events so right now everything is in a holding pattern.
