The provincial government will unveil its 2020 budget on March 25th.
Speaking in Kenora during pre-budget consultations, Finance Minister Rod Phillips stated the fiscal document will help ensure everyone in Ontario will have the opportunity to grow and prosper.
Phillips says they heard from over 5,000 organizations and individuals on what should be included in the budget.
He says the goal is to look at ways to build Ontario together, noting they have to make sure they make the right investments in infrastructure and making sure they are being smart on how they spend taxpayers money.
Phillips notes Ontarians also made it clear additional investments are needed in health care and education.
He says the budget will continue down their path to balancing the government’s books by 2023-2024.
“It’s a practical plan to create the opportunity for every region in Ontario to grow and every family in our province to prosper.”
Phillips adds everywhere they travelled the message was clear.
“People with a job wanted a higher paying job. If they had a place to live, they wanted to be able to buy that forever home. They want their children to have a secure and prosperous future.”
