The Ford government’s fund to help out parents affected by the teachers strikes has a number of holes.
So says NDP Education Critic Marit Stiles, claiming parents are being rejected and not given a reason why.
“Even more parents are struggling to have their children verified by the Ministry. Those parents are being directed to an automated phone line that tells them that the Ministry can’t help them. So much for looking out for parents.”
Stiles says parents are becoming more and more frustrated and states the governments “half baked scheme to buy off parents for their failure to get a deal with teachers is a complete disaster.”
However, Education Minister Stephen Lecce says they have processed over 750,000 applications in every region of the province so far, with parents eligible for up to $60 a day.
