It is with profound sadness that the family of Lucille Noga Legros announces her passing which took place on February 18, 2020 at Princess Court at the age of 82 with her family by her side.
Lucy will be forever remembered by her beloved sons, Gerry (Amy), Douglas and Raymond (Nathalie). Lucy’s passing leaves a big void in the lives of her six grandchildren, Caitlyn & Dalton Legros, Adam & Scott Tocholke, Kevin & Sandra Woolfrey and her 4 great grandchildren. Lucy was predeceased by her parents Jacob & Sophie Noga, father-in-law Rene Legros and mother-in-law Florence Legros-Miller, step-father Emery Miller, son Alan, brothers Roy & Ed Noga, sister Nellie West, nephew Jimmy Noga and niece Beverly West. She is survived by her sister-in-laws Donna Noga and Joan Noga, plus numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Lucy was born in St. Boniface Manitoba however spent most of her young years in Atikokan. As a young girl, she attended school on the CN school car. After high school, she pursued her secretarial education in Winnipeg . She returned to Atikokan to work at Steep Rock Mine where she met her soul mate Daniel Legros. Following the birth of their first son Gerry, the young couple moved to Winnipeg for a year in search of employment. Later an opportunity came for them to relocate to Cassiar BC where Danny worked for the Cassiar Asbestos Mine while Lucy busily raised her family. It was there that Alan, Doug and Ray were born. A few years later, the family relocated to Dryden where Lucy worked along side her husband building together a hugely successful business at R & P Tire shop, till they retired in 1996. Their business role also expanded to include assisting with the operation of the Ear Falls tire shop. As the secretary of the tire shop, Lucy always eagerly greeted the customers with a warm gentle smile. Lucy enjoyed reading, attending to the flower beds, feeding birds and was well known for her famous Christmas fruit cake. Lucy and Danny loved to spend time curling, fishing, camping and gardening. On the shores of Wabigoon Lake they built a camp where many family and friend gatherings took place over the years. They cherished a lifelong friendship with the Lindquist, Mawby, Nault and Kozmenski families. Lucy and Danny took many trips around the world and within Canada taking in the sites and various cultures along the way. Lucy loved to take walks with Danny holding hands, they volunteered for Meals On Wheels and loved to play Scrabble or Cribbage. On November 17, 2001 Lucy and Danny’s hearts were broken at the passing of their son Alan. Lucy’s heart was further shattered at the passing of Danny which took place on June 23, 2010. She remained living in the family home until her health required more care. Two years ago Lucy moved into Princess Court Long Term Care. There she enjoyed the Home’s activities, residents and staff. Lucy will be missed for her gentle manners, her caring heart, sparkling eyes and loving smile.
The family would like to extend their most sincere gratitude to all those who played a role in one way or another in the care of Lucy over the years. The family appreciated the support of family and friends, near and far through this difficult time of sorrow.
A Funeral Mass to celebrate the life of Lucy Legros will be held Tuesday, February 25th at 11:00 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church to be conducted by Rev. Alan Campeau. Interment of ashes will follow in the Dryden Cemetery.
