A Conservative motion calling for a wide-ranging and comprehensive study of the forestry industry has received unanimous support.
It’s seen as an early victory for the sector at the Standing Committee on Natural Resources.
Kenora MP Eric Melillo says he’s pleased the Committee has agreed to study the challenges facing Canada’s forestry industry, noting it has seen reduced revenues, mill closures and job losses across the country and in our riding.
Melillo says “As a member of the Natural Resources Committee, I look forward to fighting for the livelihoods of resource workers in my riding and across Canada”.
The study will include consultations with everyone involved in the sector as well as forestry experts.
