There was some home cooking on holiday Monday for the Dryden GM Ice Dogs and Red Lake Miners.
The Ice Dogs snapped an eight game losing skid with a convincing 5-1 win over visiting Thunder Bay.
Jacob Anthony was sensational in between the pipes making 35-saves, while Amraj Gill, Dylan Winsor, Curtis Magas, Jesse Mistelbacher and Bryson McDonald found the back of the net.
The second period goal by Gill was his first SIJHL marker.
The game was the first at home for Dryden GM since January 18th and that’s when they posted their last victory.
The Dryden Rotary Club game was played in front of some 520 fans.
The Red Lake Miners rebounded from a 6-3 setback Sunday in a big way, trouncing visiting Thief River Falls 7-1.
Ryan Howe led the way with two goals and an assist, while Shaye Sommerfeld, Ethan Stuckless, Skylar Tremblay, William Walsh and Morgan Venne added singles.
Zach Willms stopped 42-shots for the win.
Red Lake is now alone in first place for the first time this season, two points up on the North Stars.
Dryden GM remains two points ahead of Wisconsin for fourth.
The Lumberjacks kept pace with a 3-0 win in Fort Frances.
