Lower than expected production at the New Gold mine in Rainy River.
A total of 257,000 ounces of gold was mined at New Gold’s Rainy River mine in 2019.
Almost 52,000 ounces was produced in the final three months of the year.
Executive Vice-President Robert Chausse says lower grade gold played a factor in the final numbers for 2019.
Mill operations were also impacted by heavy rain last October.
Chausse says they are looking to do better this year.
“As a company we are expecting to produce between 465,000 and 515,000 equivalent ounces in 2020 at a lower cost than 2019.”
