The Minister of Northern Development feels there’s an opportunity for the western expansion of the Ontario Northland Transportation Commission.
The bus service will now run from Ottawa into Thunder Bay starting in April.
However, there are no confirmed plans at this time to service the Kenora and Rainy-River ridings.
Greg Rickford says he sees the ONTC working along side existing services like Kasper.
“We are very hopeful that this will be a complimentary service and fully integrated. That we will create an opportunity to work with services like Kasper. They do a great job of moving into towns and cities that are off some of the major highways.”
Kasper Chief Executive Officer Kasper Wabinski says he has great faith in Minister Rickford, but is disappointed in the management of Ontario Northland since they haven’t reached out to them to see how they could work together.
Rickford says he believes the business case to bring the service to Thunder Bay for pay for itself.
